Our name Mayacatl has its origin inspired by a pre-Hispanic king named Ácatl; who created a kingdom of peace, wisdom and artistic proliferation. The icon of his legacy is that he was accompanied by the release of birds and butterflies on top of the temples. To dream of butterflies represents something beautiful, they are the perfect metaphor to personify resurrection and eternal life, considered as a symbol of love and rebirth.

Butterflies since pre-Hispanic times were admired by Mayas and Aztecs because of their beauty, who generally called them papalotl, in Nahuatl, although morpho butterflies, of a beautiful blue, were identified with the name of matlabpapalotl, which seems to mean precious butterfly or turquoise butterfly.
